President Prabowo Subianto’s arrival in Beijing, China, on Friday (11/08) was met with enthusiastic greetings from students and residents gathered in the hotel lobby where the President was staying.
Waving Indonesian flags, the students and the residents eagerly anticipated the memorable opportunity to meet the newly inaugurated President of the Republic of Indonesia.
President Subianto’s presence abroad, especially in China, inspired a sense of pride among Indonesian students studying in the country. Among the crowd, Reva, an Indonesian student in China, could not hide her happiness after meeting the President.
“It feels incredible because my friends and I have been eagerly waiting to meet Pak Prabowo. He exceeded our expectations by being so friendly and kind to all of us,” Reva said with a beaming smile.
Reva also expressed hope that President Subianto will remain true to his responsibilities in serving the country. “I hope he remains trustworthy and fulfills all his duties well until the end of his term,” Reva said.
Two other students, Frank and Deril, also shared the same joy. They made an effort to come and warmly welcome the President, feeling it was extra special since the meeting took place in Beijing, instead of back home.
“Today is definitely very exciting to meet Pak Prabowo, especially since he was just inaugurated. It’s amazing that we finally get to meet him, especially in Beijing instead of in Indonesia,” Deril said.
Both hoped that under his administration, relationship between Indonesia and China would strengthen and also expressed their hopes for collaboration between the two countries to benefit Indonesian students in China.
“Keep up the hard work, Pak Prabowo. We wish you all the best, good health, and hope for continuous progress for Indonesia,” Deril added.
Jenifer, a Chinese student studying the Indonesian language, was also present to welcome the Indonesian President. According to her, the occasion was deeply meaningful to her as it is a rare opportunity to meet the Indonesian President in person.
“Meeting the President was incredibly exciting as it was my first time meeting President of the Republic of Indonesia. For me, it was a truly rare and enjoyable opportunity,” she said with enthusiasm.
During the meeting, Jenifer expressed hope that cooperation between Indonesia and China would continue to thrive. She also revealed her decision to learn Indonesian was driven her deep interest in Indonesian culture and tourism.
“I have visited Indonesia before and I truly love its tourism and the people,” Jenifer said.
This heartfelt moment shows that Indonesia-China relations are fostered not only at the governmental level but also among communities and students.
