President Prabowo Subianto has emphasized the importance of strengthening relations with friendly countries, including Singapore.
Speaker to reporters, Indonesian Minister for Foreign Affairs Sugiono stated that good relations with friendly countries is deemed a valuable asset by President Prabowo Subianto, especially in the middle of uncertain global situation.
“Therefore, Mr. President has reminded his Ministers attending the meetings or bilateral meetings that having a good relation with Singapore, one of our neighboring countries, is Indonesia’s national interest,” Sugiono said after accompanying the President during his state visit to Singapore, Monday (06/16).
For the record, the President’s state visit to Singapore started with official welcoming ceremony hosted by President of Singapore at the Presidential Palace, and followed by a courtesy call of President Prabowo in the palace. After that, President Prabowo had a bilateral meeting in Leaders’ Retreat with PM Wong.
“President Prabowo Subianto and Prime Minister Wong first held a one-on-one meeting. This was followed by a bilateral meeting between the two delegations,” Sugiono explained.
Sugiono went on to say that during the meeting both leaders also discussed various concrete initiatives that strengthen partnership across a number of sectors, adding that as many as 19 MoUs covering inter-sectors collaboration have reached agreement and were signed by related ministers from both countries.
