President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Monday (07/08) sent off the Indonesian Government’s humanitarian assistance for the victims of natural disasters in Papua New Guinea and Afghanistan.
“As we are all aware, a devastating landslide occurred in Enga province in Papua New Guinea on May 24. October last year, Afghanistan was hit by an earthquake, resulting in many casualties and refugees,” President Jokowi said at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta.
The Government through the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) sends various types of humanitarian assistance ranging from medicines, supplementary food, to hygiene kits. The assistance will be transported by Garuda A330 Airbus commercial aircraft and a cargo aircraft.
I hope the assistance can ease the burden of our brothers and sisters in Papua New Guinea and Afghanistan, and get them back on their feet as soon as possible,” the President said.
The Head of State told the delegates to carry out the humanitarian mission to the fullest extent.
“Also, please remain safe while performing your duty and do return to Indonesia in good health,” he remarked.
