President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Wednesday (08/28) kicked off Yogyakarta working visit to inspect and inaugurate several infrastructure projects.
The President and his entourage took off onboard Indonesia-1 Presidential Aircraft at around 08.00 Western Indonesian Time from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta.
Upon arrival at Adi Sutjipto Air Force Base in Sleman regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) province, the President and his entourage traveled to Dr. Sardjito National General Hospital to inaugurate Women and Children’s Health Services Building.
“President Jokowi is also scheduled to inaugurate Godean Market in the regency. Built in 2023, the market is estimated to accommodate around 1,837 traders,” Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media of the Presidential Secretariat Yusuf Permana said in his written statement.
During the inauguration of the Women and Children’s Health Services Building, President Jokowi extended his appreciation for the construction of the eight-story building. He also expressed hope that health services for women and children will improve so that mortality rates of both groups will also decline.
“We hope that the construction of this building will improve health services for women and children, thereby significantly reduce maternal and child mortality rates,” the President said.
For the record, the building construction spent a budget of Rp267 billion, while equipment procurement cost Rp240 billion. In addition, a budget of Rp50 billion is allocated for human capital development.
The health services building is also equipped with cutting-edge medical equipment. Thus, the President expressed hope that other hospitals in the country can also provide the same modern facilities and technology.
“Upon my arrival, I observed that all the equipment was highly modern and digital. This facility will set a benchmark of how to manage a hospital with advanced digital equipment. Entering this hospital feels more like entering a five-star hotel than a traditional medical facility,” the President remarked.
The President is scheduled to stay overnight at the Yogyakarta Presidential Palace and proceeded with his working visit the following day.
