The 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) in Nusa Dua, Bali on September 1-3, 2024 is designed as a catalyst for change, in which ideas and concepts are expected to be turned into real actions. The agreements produced in the Indonesia-Africa Forum are deliverables, namely agreements that can be implemented and have direct impacts.
Priority sectors that become the main focus include economic transformation, energy and mining, food security, health, and development cooperation.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Pahala Nugraha Manshury stated that the 2nd IAF is not only related to ideas, but also to real actions that produce results.
“For private sectors and state-owned enterprises, it is estimated that there will be agreements worth US$3.5 billion or around Rp58 trillion. We hope that this forum will not only discuss plans to build cooperation between Indonesia and Africa, but also produce concrete plans, considering the great potential that can be developed between the two,” he said, Thursday (08/29) in Jakarta.
Similarly, the first Rwandan Ambassador to Indonesia, Abdul Karim Harerimana, said that the 2nd IAF will also serve as a forum for exchanging ideas in overcoming development challenges.
President of Rwanda His Excellency (HE) Paul Kagame will serve as a resource person and share experiences from African countries, especially Rwanda, in strengthening international development cooperation. This is expected to further strengthen bilateral relations between Indonesia and Rwanda and African countries as a whole.
“His presence, along with other African leaders, is expected to deepen bilateral and multilateral relations, as well as open up opportunities for closer and mutually beneficial collaboration,” said Abdul.
In addition to the President of Rwanda, the 2nd IAF will also be attended by six other African heads of state, namely President of Liberia HE Joseph Boakai, President of Ghana HE Nana Akufo-Addo, Prime Minister of Eswatini HE Cleopas Dlamini, President of Zanzibar representing Tanzania HE Hussein Ali Mwinyi, and Vice President of Zimbabwe HE Constantino Chiwenga.
The IAF serves as the main platform for Indonesia and African countries to strengthen bilateral relations, formulate strategic steps, and make joint efforts in facing increasingly complex global challenges.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia affirms its strong commitment to building a solid bridge of cooperation with African countries. The 2nd IAF is expected to produce new agreements and ideas through a spirit of togetherness, in order to shape a better future for future generations.
