The commemoration of Indonesian independence, which was held for the first time at the State Palace of Nusantara on Saturday (08/17), was brimmed with enthusiasm and pride from the attendees.
“I am very proud since this is the first moment, and we—ordinary people—are invited to come,” Edi Sopyan, a resident of Dayak Benuaq tribe of East Kalimantan, said.
On the occasion, Edi also received a bicycle from President Jokowi because he wore traditional attire that combined elements from West, East, and Central Kalimantan, which reflects the spirit of diversity.
“I hope that the development of Nusantara will continue so it will make an impact, especially on the people in Kalimantan,” Edi added.
Echoing a similar sentiment, Eka, a Balikpapan resident, expressed admiration for the rapid progress made in the Nusantara.
“Initially, Nusantara is merely forests and the roads were inadequate. Nevertheless, in less than a year, the progress development here is magnificent and extraordinary,” Eka said, adding that the development of Nusantara must be continued in the next presidential period.
In addition, youths from the island of Sulawesi, Tutut, Retno, and Hajra, also expressed pride for being a witness of a historical event. They stated that the development of Nusantara is something extraordinary.
