President Prabowo Subianto Wednesday (06/18) arrived at Pulkovo International Airport, St. Petersburg, Russian Federation, for an official visit at the invitation of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
Upon his arrival at around 5:50 p.m. local time, President Prabowo received an official welcome from First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov, Deputy Chief of State Protocol of the Russian Federation Alexander Prusov, and Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono. The welcoming ceremony took place in a warm and dignified atmosphere, reflecting the strong diplomatic ties between Indonesia and the Russian Federation.
As part of the official reception, President Prabowo, accompanied by First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, proceeded past the honor guard. Both of them paused to listen to the national anthem of Indonesia [Indonesia Raya] and the national anthem of the Russian Federation played at the airport’s ceremonial area.
After walking past the honor guard, President Prabowo and First DPM Manturov introduced their respective delegates. On the Russian side, officials present included Senator Ilyas Umakhanov from Dagestan, Russian Ambassador to Indonesia Sergei Tolchenov, and Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov. Meanwhile, Indonesian officials accompanying the President during the visit were Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Indonesian Ambassador to the Russian Federation Jose Tavares, and Defense Attaché at the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow First Marshal Jatmiko Adi.
Before departing the airport, President Prabowo observed a ceremonial parade performed by the honor guard. Afterwards, the Head of State and his limited entourage then proceeded to their accommodations in St. Petersburg for an overnight stay.
The official visit will continue Thursday (06/19) with a bilateral meeting between President Prabowo and Russian President Vladimir Putin, aimed at strengthening the strategic partnership between Indonesia and the Russian Federation in various sectors.
“In Russia, President Prabowo, who was invited directly by President Putin, will be officially welcomed with a state reception and is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting on June 19, 2025,” Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said in his statement on Sunday (06/15).
