The visit of Premier of the People’s Republic of China Li Qiang to Indonesia on Saturday (05/24) marks a new chapter in diplomatic relations between the two countries, according to Minister of Investment and Downstream/Head of BKPM Rosan Perkasa Roeslani.
Rosan stated that the visit opens wider opportunities for the realization and expansion of Chinese investment in Indonesia.
“Several agreements will be signed, and as Minister of Investment and Downstream, I fully welcome this. We’ve seen strong investment realization from China across various sectors, not just in Jakarta, but also in many regions outside the capital,” Rosan said.
He underscored that the previously agreed investment commitment worth US$0 billion is already in the implementation stage.
Premier Li Qiang’s current visit, he added, is aimed at exploring new project opportunities across multiple sectors.
“Well, the US$10 billion has started to run. This visit focuses on new projects, some involving the private sector and some with state-owned enterprises (BUMN). Ministry of Investment will monitor and support their execution to ensure everything goes according to plan,” he said.
As CEO of the Government Investment Agency (BPI) Danantara, Rosan further explained that areas of cooperation include transportation, industrial cluster development, mineral downstreaming, and the chemical sector. The projects will involve collaboration between the private sector and Stae-owned Enterprises (SoEs).
“There are several sectors involved, including railway transport, joint ventures in industrial clusters, cooperation with both private entities and SoEs, and mineral downstreaming, especially EV battery components, as well as chemicals,” he explained.
Regarding geopolitical dynamics, including trade relations with the United States, Rosan emphasized that Indonesia remains focused on building strong, mutually beneficial partnerships.
