President Prabowo Subianto Sunday (05/25) welcomed Premier of the People’s Republic of China Li Qiang with an official ceremony at the grounds of the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.
Upon arrival at around 10.00 Western Indonesian time, the Chinese Premier was greeted with a guard of honor, reflecting the close ties between the two countries.
Premier Li’s entourage was escorted by 11 motorized troops, 70 cavalrymen, and a guard of honor and more than 3,000 students enlivened the occasion by waving the Indonesian red-and-white flag and the Chinese flag along the road from the grounds of the National Monument to the Merdeka Palace.
The official ceremony began with the singing of the Chinese and Indonesian national anthems, followed by the firing of the 19-gun salute as a sign of respect to the state guests.
Afterwards, the two leaders conducted an inspection of the ranks of honor before introducing their delegates.
The Indonesian delegates include Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Minister of Investment and Downstream Industry/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board Rosan Roeslani, Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto, Minister of Agriculture Amran Sulaiman, Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
Also attending the ceremony were Governor of Bank Indonesia Perry Warjiyo, Head of the National Economic Board Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Arrmanatha Nasir, Vice Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono, Vice Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Stella Christie, and the Indonesian Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China Jauhari Oratmangun.
Following the welcoming procession, the Indonesian President invited his Chinese counterpart to the credential room for a joint photo session and guest book signing, followed by a bilateral meeting with their delegates in the palace’s oval room.
After the bilateral meeting, the two leaders witnessed the signing of several memoranda of understanding (MoU) between Indonesia and China.
The visit, concluded by an official luncheon hosted by President Prabowo at the State Palace, served as a milestone in the Indonesia-China relations, reinforcing the position of the two countries as strategic partners in the Asian region. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (DH/EP)
