President Prabowo Subianto’s arrival in New Delhi, India, on Thursday January (01/23), was met with enthusiastic reception from Indian students studying at various universities in the city.
Sonia, an Indonesian student at Delhi University, shared her joy after meeting President Subianto in person.
“We were so excited to wait for Mr. Prabowo’s arrival, and we didn’t expect him to be so friendly, coming to greet each of us individually,” Sonia said with a smile.
Sonia also expressed her hope that President Subianto would create opportunities for dialogue with Indonesian students in India.
She also mentioned that the students have various aspirations they wish to share with the Head of State.
“Maybe we could be given an opportunity to talk and engage in a discussion with Mr. Prabowo. We want to let him know that there are many Indonesian students in India, and perhaps some of us could share ideas with him,” Sonia added.
Meanwhile, three students from Bali—Esti, Erna, and Ayu—shared their impressions after meeting the President. Esti, currently enrolled in a managerial training program in New Delhi, expressed her excitement about this long-awaited moment.
“The three of us have been eagerly anticipating the President’s arrival. In fact, we’ve wanted to meet him for quite some time,” Esti said.
Erna and Ayu, who are studying Sanskrit in New Delhi, expressed their hopes that President Subianto’s visit would further strengthen relations between Indonesia and India. They also shared their aspiration for Indonesia to establish a university offering a Sanskrit language department.
“This probably can be conveyed to the President, so he can help establish a Sanskrit University, as Sanskrit is part of Indonesia’s linguistic heritage,” said Erna.
Echoing a similar sentiment, Rajendra, Marvell, Sherry, and Faisal shared their pride in meeting the President in person. They also expressed hope that President Subianto’s visit to India would positively impact the relationship between the two nations.
“We’re very happy. Meeting him directly was an extraordinary experience. His aura was so authoritative. It was amazing to see him in person and hear his voice,” said Faisal.
“We certainly hope that all the planned events, which have been carefully prepared, proceed smoothly. We also hope the President feels comfortable during his stay in New Delhi,” added Sherry.
