President Prabowo Subianto Monday (04/14) concluded the official visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
Speaking to reporters, the President said that during the meeting with King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein Al-Hashemi, both leaders discussed the strong commitment to improving cooperation between Indonesia and Jordan in a number of sectors.
“We discussed measures to boost cooperation in various sectors, including in education, science, technology, and economic sectors. Here [in Jordan], we purchased a large quantity of phosphate and potash for our fertilizers since their prices are among the most affordable in the world,” the President said, adding that the humanitarian issue in Gaza also emerged as a major focus in the discussions.
Indonesia, he added, continues to actively push for the realization of a ceasefire and offers support in accelerating the peace process.
“We also discussed the Gaza issue – how we can help in terms of humanitarian aspect. We also called for reaching an immediate cease fire and we would like to offer what we can to accelerate the peace process,” he added.
For the record, President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to Amman marked a milestone in strengthening bilateral relations between Indonesia and Jordan, especially in peace and humanitarian sectors, as well as in cooperation in the Islamic sphere.
The visit also concluded the President sequence of visits to the Middle East region and Türkiye that are expected to bring positive impacts on humanitarian efforts in Palestine.
“Alhamdulillah, we gained a clear update. We hope that, perhaps in the near future, a breakthrough towards a better direction could be achieved. We certainly have to consider and defend the interests of all parties, particularly the interests of the people of Palestine,” the President remarked.
